Neither video nor audio in Setup Wizard

DESCRIPTION:

User receives neither audio nor video on the "test" page of the Setup Wizard. This is most often accompanied by a message that Beyond TV "failed to start the recording / viewing engine".

ARTICLE:

  • Are you using an ATI All-In-Wonder Radeon device?
    If yes, please read our knowledgebase article on "No video or audio in Setup Wizard 'test' section or in recordings with ATI All-In-Wonder devices".

  • Are you using Beyond TV on a Windows XP Media Center Edition (MCE) machine?
    If yes, read our knowledgebase article on Support for Windows Media Center Edition (MCE).

  • Does the TV tuner function with the software that is supplied by the manufacturer?
    If it does not, follow the manufacturer's instructions for setup and If you continue to have difficulty at this point, contact the manufacturer for support.
    * PVR-250BTV users can use the "AMcap" program that appears in the "Hauppauge WinTV" Program group to verify functionality. PVR-150, PVR-250, PVR-350, and PVR-500 users can download WinTV2000 from Hauppauge.com to verify functionality (note that this will require installing the drivers provided on their site).

  • Are any other programs running that may use your TV tuners?
    If it is, please shutdown the program before attempting to run the Beyond TV Setup Wizard.

  • Did you select the correct Video Input?
    Click Back until you reach the Video Input screen and make sure that the correct input type is selected. Note that in some cases, multiple inputs are listed with the same name (as in the example below), but only one is correct. If one input does not work, try selecting a different input of the same name.

  • Is your TV tuner supported by Beyond TV?
    If you are unsure, please review our list of supported tuner devices and also make sure your tuner is not on our list of unsupported tuner devices. While many tuner devices are not on either list, it may work with Beyond TV and many more will not.

  • Are you receiving an error "Failed to attach to graph"?
    If this issue occurs, please make sure your drivers for your video card, sound card and TV tuner are up to date. If they are, please reinstall them, as Beyond TV is not able to access one of the components to generate a picture onscreen.
