Posted by - NA - on 28 December 2005 07:52 AM

DESCRIPTION:

Instructions on mapping FireFly buttons to external applications. Doing so will also change the appropriate media option in Beyond Media Basic's menu. Recommended for advanced users only.

ARTICLE:

Start Beyond Media Basic and go to SETTINGS --> MEDIA BUTTONS.

Supported applications installed on the PC will already be listed. To add an unlisted application, exit Beyond Media Basic and edit the file:

c:\documents and settings\all users\application data\snapstream\firefly\profiles\global.xml

Edit this file appropriately, changing the target executable and description as desired. For example, the "Video" button is set in the following group:

<Actions Button="Video" Description="Beyond Video Basic">
<LaunchAction ActivationState="Down" Program="C:\Program Files\SnapStream Media\Firefly\Player.exe" Arguments="-video" Description="Beyond Video Basic" />
</Actions>

Change the following entries accordingly:
Description (1): The text used to identify the application in the on-screen display (upper-right part of screen, shows up on button-press)
Program: The full path to the executable of the program that will be launched for that button.
Arguments: Any command-line arguments entered following the executable specified in the "Program" field.
Description (2): The text that represents the application in configuration (settings menu).
Arguments: Any command-line arguments to be entered after calling the executable. In the example above, the program is entering the command "C:\Program Files\SnapStream Media\Firefly\Player.exe -video"

When finished editing, save the file under its original filename and restart Beyond Media Basic.
