ATI All-In-Wonder or nVidia Personal Cinema uses 3d-accelerated instead of overlay renderer
Posted by - NA - on 19 April 2006 03:35 PM

DESCRIPTION:

A user may notice with VIVO (Video In - Video Out) cards such as the ATI All-In-Wonder, or the nVidia Personal Cinema that even with the Video Renderer selection set to "Overlay" in Beyond TV, that the 3d-accelerated renderer is being used instead.

ARTICLE:

This occurs because these cards only have one overlay buffer, which can be used either for video capture or video playback, but not both at one time. This forces Beyond TV to switch to the 3d-accelerated renderer if the VIVO card is configured as a capture device. In such setups, the overlay renderer is only used when playing back Live TV or recordings in progress because the overlay buffer is being used to capture the video. This is a hardware-based limitation and as such cannot be solved within the Beyond TV software.
