Beyond TV does not function correctly under Windows Vista with the Hauppauge WinTV PVR-250, Windows Media Center Receiver Service

DESCRIPTION:

Beyond TV 4.6 is unable to view live TV or playback recordings while using Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium or Ultimate Edition and a Hauppauge Win TV-PVR-250 TV tuner card.

ARTICLE:

While using Beyond TV 4.6, Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium or Ultimate Edition and a Hauppauge Win TV-PVR-250 TV tuner card, Beyond TV is unable to view live TV or playback any recordings. In order to correct this issue you will have to disable the Windows Media Receiver Service. Please follow these steps to resolve the issue:
  • Navigate to START- CONTROL PANEL - SYSTEM MAINTENANCE - ADMINISTRATIVE TOOLS - SERVICES
  • Once the Services window appears, scroll down until you see Windows Media Center Receiver Service and double click on it.
  • On the Windows Media Center Receiver Service window, locate the "Startup Type" field, change the drop down box to the right of it to "Disabled"
  • Click APPLY and then exit out of all the windows and restart your computer. Upon reboot, Beyond TV will be able to view live tv and playback recordings.
