Instructions for "locking" one of the Enterprise Server's tuners to a single channel. This procedure is intended
for users who want to use set-top boxes without tuning hardware such as serial cable or an IR blaster. Each
set-top box will be set to a single channel and not be changed by the Enterprise Server. If you want to enable the Enterprise
Server to change the channels on the set-top boxes, you will need to set up IR Blasting or Serial Cable Tuning. Users with RF cable inputs that wish to dedicate a tuner to recording a particular channel can also use this procedure.
ARTICLE:
In order to "lock" a tuner on to a channel, you will need to create a one-channel lineup
for each tuner that will be locked. Then you will need to associate each lineup with one of the Enterprise Server's tuners.
Before starting this procedure, back up your Enterprise Server's settings. This will allow you to restore them in
the event of an error. Right-click on the TV system tray icon
And select "About Beyond TV."
Click on "Beyond TV Backup" and follow the onscreen instructions.
CREATING LINEUPS
1. If any recordings are running, stop them by right-clicking on the Enterprise TV System Tray
Agent and selecting "Stop All Recordings."
2. Label each of your set-top boxes with a number, beginning with 1. If you are not using set-top boxes, skip this step.
3. If you are recording from a set-top box, use an S-video/audio cable with a component-to-stereo adapter to connect set-top box number 1
to S-video input number 1 on the Enterprise Server.
On a rackmount server, S-video input 1 will be the top input
on the tuner card furthest to the left. On a tower server, input number 1 will be the right input on the topmost
tuner card.
OR
If you are recording from standard cable, connect an RF cable feed to tuner card 1. Tuner cards are numbered from left to right on a rackmount server, or top to bottom on a tower server.
4. Select the channel that you want to record on tuner number 1. NOTE: If you decide to
change the channel that you are recording on this tuner, you will need to repeat this procedure.
5. Open the Enterprise Server's Web Admin interface by using a web browser to navigate to
http://[SERVERNAME or IPADDRESS]:8129/. If you have password protection enabled for the Web Admin, you will be
prompted to enter a password.
6. Open the Settings menu by clicking Settings in the menu on the left.
7. Click Channels.
8. Select the lineup that contains ALL of the channels available on your set-top box or cable feed. You may
only have one lineup available.
9. At the bottom of the page, click "Save As New." This will create a new lineup using your
existing channels.
10. In the box above the channel list marked "Friendly Name," enter a descriptive name for this
lineup. It will contain exactly one of the channels from your existing lineup, so a good name would be something
like "Comcast Houston Channel 15."
11. Click "Hide All."
12. Uncheck the "Hide?" box next to the channel you will be receiving on tuner number 1.
13. At the bottom of the page, click "Save and Exit."
14. Repeat steps 7-13 for each channel you wish to "lock."
15. If you have any tuners that will NOT be "locked" to a channel, click Channels and select the
appropriate lineup for those tuners.
16. Check the "Hide?" box for any channels on this lineup that will be received by a locked tuner.
Then click "Save and Exit." This step will prevent Enterprise TV from trying to dispatch recordings on these
channels to tuners which cannot receive them.
ASSOCIATE LINEUPS WITH TUNERS
1. Return to the Settings menu and click "Audio and Video Inputs."
2. You will see a list of all of the Enterprise Server's tuners. Find the tuner numbered 1 and
click on Edit Settings.
3. If you are using an RF cable input, skip this step. In the "Video Input" drop-down box, select "2: Video SVideo In."
4. In the Channel Lineup drop-down box, select the lineup that contains the channel to which this
tuner will be locked, for example, "Comcast Houston Channel 15." This lineup should contain the channel to which
set-top box number 1 will be tuned.
5. If you are using an RF cable input, skip this step. In the "External Tuning" drop-down box, select Null Tuner.
6. Click "Save Changes."
7. Repeat steps 2-6 for each tuner to which a set-top box is connected. NOTE: No
changes need to be made to the settings for tuners that will continue to receive standard cable.
