How to setup iTunes Integration in Beyond TV 4.7.1 and above

The requirements for setting up iTunes Integration in Beyond TV 4.7.1 and above

If you are using the iPod Touch/iPhone/Apple TV or any other iPod devices that has audio/sync issues with the recordings, please upgrade to Beyond TV 4.9.0

If you are using the iPod Touch or iPhone with the 3.x firmware, it is currently not compatible with Beyond TV. After syncing your recordings you will not see them in any of the list of videos. This issue is currently being worked on and this article will be updated once that occurs.

  • Beyond TV 4.7.1 or above
    (You may downloaded here)

  • iTunes on each computer that Beyond TV will be syncing with.
    (You may downloaded here)

  • An iPod, iPhone, and/or Apple TV device and it's connection cable to the computer.

  • Start the DVD Burning/H.264 Plugin trial or purchase/own the DVD Burning/H.264 plugin. (If you previously purchased the DVD Burning Plugin, you will receive the H.264 Plugin for free.)

The purpose of iTunes Integration in Beyond TV 4.7 is to provide you with a way to automatically sync your chosen TV recordings onto your device. Beyond TV will generate a RSS feed (podcast) to your iTunes software and then you will sync your device by connecting it to your computer. iTunes then will transfer the shows you have chosen to your device. There are several ways to set up iTunes Integration, please follow the steps that fit you best. This procedure is assuming that you have not yet ever setup iTunes Integration in Beyond TV.


Syncing All Recordings
  1.  
    • In the Beyond TV ViewScape, navigate to Settings – iTunes Integration.

    • Next to iTunes Integration, click on the arrows to change it to Enabled.

    • Now choose your device on the next line.

    • Change Automatically Convert All Recordings to Enabled also.

    • Finally click on Configure iTunes Podcast Settings, it will ask you if you would like to launch an external web browser, click on Yes.

    • Once the iTunes Integration Settings page appears in your web browser, scroll down to the tables and locate All Recordings. Now if you click on the iTunes button to the right of All Recordings, this will now send all your recordings from Beyond TV into one RSS feed (podcast) into iTunes.

    • Proceed to the iTunes Settings section further down the page.

    • Open your web browser and go to this address: http://Your_Computer_Name:8129/SetupITunes.aspx, where Your_Computer_Name is the name of the computer that is running Beyond TV. If you do not know your computer name, please follow this knowledge base article to find it.

    • Once the iTunes Integration Settings page appears in your web browser, change iTunes Integration to Enabled in the drop down box.

    • Choose your device from the drop down box in the next section.

    • Now move down to the table and locate All Recordings, on that row in the Automatic Convert for iTunes column, change the setting to Enabled.

    • Now if you click on the iTunes button to the right of All Recordings, this will now send all your recordings from the Beyond TV computer into one RSS feed (podcast) into iTunes.

    • Proceed to the iTunes Settings section further down the page.

Syncing Individual Recordings
  1.  
    • In the Beyond TV ViewScape, navigate to Settings – iTunes Integration.

    • Next to iTunes Integration, click on the arrows to change it to Enabled.

    • Now choose your device on the next line.

    • Leave Automatically Convert All Recordings to Disabled.

    • Finally click on Configure iTunes Podcast Settings, it will ask you if you would like to launch an external web browser, click on Yes.

    • Once the iTunes Integration Settings page appears in your web browser, scroll down to the tables and locate Scheduled Recording Jobs and/or Other iTunes Videos. Browse through the list, on the shows that you would like to be synced with iTunes, click on the Edit in the Automatic Convert for iTunes column and then choose Enabled in the drop down box that replaces it.

    • Once you have all the Scheduled Recordings Jobs and/or Other iTunes Videos enabled, click on Save Changes at the bottom of the page.

    • Now click on the bigger iTunes button to the right of All Recordings, this will now send all your recordings from the Beyond TV computer into one RSS feed (podcast) into iTunes.

    • If you have multiple devices setup in iTunes, you may use the smaller iTunes buttons next to your Scheduled Recording Jobs and/or Other iTunes Videos instead to sync certain recordings to certain devices. This will sync just the specific Scheduled Recording Job and/or Other iTunes Video to your specific device in iTunes.

    • Proceed to the iTunes Settings section further down the page.

    • Open your web browser and go to this address: http://Your_Computer_Name:8129/SetupITunes.aspx, where Your_Computer_Name is the name of the computer that is running Beyond TV. If you do not know your computer name, please follow this knowledge base article to find it.

    • Once the iTunes Integration Settings page appears in your web browser, change iTunes Integration to Enabled in the drop down box.

iTunes Settings
  • Once you click on the iTunes button back on the iTunes Integration Settings page, it will open the iTunes program itself.

  • When iTunes opens, connect your device.

  • Then your device will appear in the iTunes sidebar, select it and then navigate to the Podcast tab. Put a check mark in Sync if it is not already there.

  • Now choose All podcasts or Selected podcasts, it will be your choice. If you choose Selected podcasts, make sure you put a check mark in the Beyond TV podcast to enable it to sync with your device. Once your done with that, click on Apply at the bottom of the page.




Now you have completed setting up iTunes Integration into Beyond TV 4.7. From this point on, your new recordings will have a separate ShowSqueeze job for iTunes and once it is done, it will send it to iTunes.
