"Disk boot failure" message appears, and server will not boot to Windows

DESCRIPTION:

After making a change to a RAID-based storage array, users may receive the message "Disk Boot Failure" when attempting to boot to Windows.

ARTICLE:

This issue results from automatic boot selection on some motherboards.

NOTE: these instructions may not be valid for all models of the SnapStream Enterprise TV Server. If you are unsure whether these instructions apply to you, or if they do not appear to correspond to what you see onscreen, please contact SnapStream Enterprise Support.


To resolve the issue:


1. Reboot the server and hold the Delete key to enter the BIOS settings menu.


2. Once the BIOS menu appears, select Advanced BIOS Features and press Enter.


3. Select Hard Disk Boot Priority and press Enter.


4. Follow the onscreen instructions to move the entry labeled Intel Volume 0 to the top of the list.


5. Press F10 to Save and Exit. Select Yes when you are prompted to Save to CMOS.


The server should now boot to Windows normally. If it does not, please contact SnapStream Enterprise Support.
