DirecTV Channel Changing (Disclaimer: DirecTV may at their discretion turn this feature off at any time with no warning.)
ARTICLE:
In Enterprise TV 5.3+ you are now able to change channels on your DirecTV set top box via the network port. Your receiver will have to be compatible with the Whole-Home Service.
Before we begin, the first step is to setup your DirecTV reciever on the network. Plug in the network cable and perform the following steps on each receiver.
Access the following menu's: Menu -> Parental, Fav's & Setup -> System Setup -> Network Setup -> Advanced Setup
(Each receiver is different so the menus may vary)
On this page you can set the IP Address. You will want to select a static IP Address that is not in your DHCP range as the receiver will pick up a new address every now and then. After you have chosen your address, click on "Connect Now" and you will be connected to the network. This steep may give you some errors about the Whole-Home Service, but bypass them until it stops.
Now go back to the System Setup menu and then access Whole-Home -> External Device and then set all the options to "Allow" and exit back to the System Setup menu.
At this point, try querying your receiver via this address using the Google Chrome browser as other browsers will not interpret this page properly.

(Where localhost is the IP address of your DirecTV receiver.)
You will get a page with just a bunch of code on it. This confirms that your receiver is set up properly and has the ability to be accessed via the network. If you are having issues querying your DirecTV receiver, please contact DirecTV support.
Once your done, access the Web Admin: http://localhost/ or http://servername/ or http://ipaddress/
Login as usual, click on Admin at the top, Tuners on the left and then Edit the tuner you would like to change.
You will see the following page:
On this page next to External Tuning Interface, change it to DirecTV Web Tuning and then on DirecTV URL enter the IP address of the DirecTV receiver.
Click Save at the bottom and then your DirecTV Channel changing has been enabled. Repeat this procedure for every receiver and tuner source you will be setting up.
