ArcSoft Decoder Missing in Beyond TV
Posted by Adrienne Gonzalez on 29 June 2011 09:25 AM

DESCRIPTION:

After installing the TME software for your HD-PVR, you don't see the ArcSoft Video Decoder listed as an option as a Preferred H.264 Decoder.

ARTICLE:

Newer versions of the Hauppauge install disc that comes with your HD-PVR will install the ArcSoft Total Media Extreme software without registering the necessary decoder file.

  1. First you want to make sure that you have installed Total Media Extreme (TME) if it hasn't been installed already. This is on your HD-PVR installation disc.

  2. After installing the software, open the Beyond TV ViewScape and go to Settings > Playback Settings > Preferred H.264 Decoder. Check to see if "ArcSoft Video Decoder" is an available option here. If it isn't, continue to the next step.

  3. Manually register the ArcSoft Video Decoder.

    • Go to Start > Run. (If you don't see the option for Run in your start menu, hold down the windows flag button on your keyboard and hit the letter "R" to bring up the run box).

    • Copy and paste the command below into the run box. The command will be slightly different depending on your operating system and version of TME.
    • 32-bit OS:

If your Hauppauge disc came with TME:  regsvr32 "C:\Program Files\ArcSoft\TotalMedia Extreme\Codec\asvid.ax"

      If your Hauppauge disc came with TME2:  regsvr32 "C:\Program Files\ArcSoft\TotalMedia Extreme\Digital Theatre\Codec\asvid.ax"

      64-bit OS:

If your Hauppauge disc came with TME:  regsvr32 "C:\Program Files (x86)\ArcSoft\TotalMedia Extreme\Codec\asvid.ax"

      If your Hauppauge disc came with TME2: regsvr32 "C:\Program Files (x86)\ArcSoft\TotalMedia Extreme\Codec\asvid.ax"

    • Click OK, and you should get a message confirming that this operation succeeded.

  4. Now go back into the Beyond TV ViewScape and check to see if the ArcSoft Decoder is an available option under Settings > Playback Settings > Preferred H.264 decoder. If it is not, please contact technical support.
