Command-line arguments in Beyond TV - SnapStream Knowledgebase
Solution

DESCRIPTION:

This article contains the complete list of command line arguments available to Beyond TV. These instructions are especially helpful when running Beyond TV as a service, or when scheduling tasks therein using the Task Scheduler. Helpful Tip: To configure shortcuts to an executable in order to use command-line arguments, modify the "Target" field of the Properties for a shortcut to the desired executable. For example (version 3.4.4), with the shortcut to the WTLPVSAPP.EXE executable, you will find:

"C:\Program Files\SnapStream Media\Beyond TV 3\WTLPVSApp.exe"

Add any command-line arguments AFTER the close-quote. Example:

"C:\Program Files\SnapStream Media\Beyond TV 3\WTLPVSApp.exe" /mode windowed /width 640 /height 480

This example will start Beyond TV 3.4.4 in Windowed mode, sized to 640x480.

ARTICLE:

The following are additonal command line options currently available for use with Beyond TV:

In Beyond TV 3.4.4 and earlier:

Gui Options:

/startscreen [top | home / tv | livetv / library / guide | epg / jobs / recordings]

/defaultscreen [top | home / tv | livetv / library / guide | epg / jobs / recordings]

Starts the GUI in the main menu (TOP or HOME), Live TV (TV or LIVETV), the list of recorded shows (LIBRARY), the Program Guide (GUIDE or EPG), the recording settings and priorities list (JOBS), or the list of upcoming recordings (RECORDINGS).

Note: "Defaultscreen" is identical to "startscreen" in function, except that it causes the GUI to default to that screen every time the GUI is launched (unless command-line parameters override the default).

/closegui

/mode [FS / Windowed / TRUEFS / FAKEFS / None]

Windowed Mode Specific Options:

/width (value)

/height (value)

/xpos (value): specifies horizontal location of the NW corner, measured in pixels

/ypos (value): specifies vertical location of the NW corner, measured in pixels

/border [on/off]

Finally, there is a command-line option that will make Beyond TV exit without warnings. This is useful when automating processes such as XMLTV listings imports.

/quit

In Beyond TV 3.5 and later:

Setup Wizard (setupwizard.exe):

/defaultremote:

Sets the default remote selection when running the Setup Wizard, where is the index of the desired remote. This setting will override anything that attempts to set the remote, including OEM defaults.

BTV Agent (BTVAgent2.exe):

/shell

Starts the D3D shell (the "Viewscape" interface) after starting all services. Additionally, this switch will forward any other command line parameters to the D3D shell executable.

/nosplash

Starts the Agent without showing the Beyond TV splash screen

/shutdown

Shutsdowns Beyond TV.

BTV D3D Shell (BTVD3DShell.exe):

/closegui

/border [on/off]*

/displaymode [windowed | fs | exclusivefs]*

* These items only work in windowed mode and have no effect if the D3D Shell is already running.

/height (value)

/width (value)

/xpos (value): specifies horizontal location of the NW corner, measured in pixels

/ypos (value): specifies vertical location of the NW corner, measured in pixels

/quit

Web Server (BTVWebServer.exe):

"c:\Program Files\SnapStream Media\Beyond TV 3\BTVWebServer.exe" "C:\Program Files\SnapStream Media\Beyond TV 3\wwwroot" 8129 False
Note: Include quotation marks as in this example if path has spaces in it.
This will disable the UPnP Server option.
