How to record from different tuner inputs - SnapStream Knowledgebase
Solution

DESCRIPTION:

This document describes the steps involved in configuring Beyond TV to record from an additional Coaxial / S-Video / Composite input on your tuner device. Please note that adding both a composite and an s-video input on the same tuner device is not possible. IMPORTANT NOTICE: In certain devices, most notably the Hauppauge line of capture cards, multiple "S-video" and "Composite" selections will be available. These are for use with the Hauppauge A/V Cable set. If a composite or s-video input does not work after configuring it according to this guide, go back to the device in the Web Admin to edit the Video Source to try the other entry / entries.

ARTICLE:

If you wish to add another input with another lineup, use the Setup Wizard to configure new inputs on the same tuner device, just as you configure new tuner devices. The Setup WIzard is available from the same Program Group as Beyond TV.

1) On the 'Video Source' screen where it lists the available tuner device(s), simply select 'Add a New Source' and hit 'Next.'

2) Pick the 'Broadcast Source' and hit 'Next.'

3) Create the appropriate lineup for the new input if necessary, or select the appropriate lineup from the list.

4) On the Video Input screen, select the type of connection used for this new input, and configure the rest of the steps normally.

If you wish to add another input for a special need, for example if you do not wish to add a snapstream.net lineup to an s-video input, but rather wish to enter the s-video input as an accessible source, refer to the following example.

1) Go to WEB ADMIN (http://localhost:8129) --> SETTINGS --> CHANNELS. Scroll to the bottom and hit 'Create New'

2) Hit 'Add Channels.'

3) Choose the channel range. In this example, choose the channel range 0 to 0 -- that's easy enough to remember since there is no channel 0. Proceed to the next screen

4) Pick a name and a callsign (for this example, 'S-Video' and 'SVID') and a 'Friendly Name' for the lineup (for this example, 'S-Video Only') to govern how the channel is identified in Beyond TV's Program Guide and in other locations, and hit 'Save and Exit.'

5) Go to 'Audio and Video Inputs' (under the 'Settings' menu) and then 'Create New Video Source.'

6) Choose:
- a 'Friendly Name'
- the right tuner under 'Video Device'
- the S-Video input for that device under 'Video Input.'
- the new lineup you just created for 'Channel Lineup'
- 'Null Tuner' for 'External Tuning.'

Finally hit 'Save Changes.' In this example, the S-Video input will show up as channel 0. You need only record from that channel in Live TV, or create a new recording in WEB ADMIN --> SETUP RECORDINGS to record from S-Video. Adjust this example as appropriate for your specific needs.

If you are using Beyond TV 3.4.4 and earlier, please follow the instructions in this knowledgebase article.
