How to make Beyond TV 3.5 and later work with unsupported or incompatible video / graphics cards - SnapStream Knowledgebase
Solution

DESCRIPTION:

Beyond TV requires a fully DirectX-9 compatible graphics card to function properly in ViewScape mode. In some cases, a graphics card does not support 3D acceleration and will fail either upon entry to ViewScape or an attempt at Live TV. This article describes steps that can be taken to attempt to solve this problem.

ARTICLE:

First, try changing the "Video Renderer" setting (in ViewScape: SETTINGS --> PLAYBACK SETTINGS --> Video Renderer) to see if the results improve. Acceptable values are "3d-Accelerated" and "Overlay."

If that doesn't help, setting Beyond TV to use software rendering may solve the problem. To do this, first exit Beyond TV. Then, take the following steps appropriate to the version of Beyond TV being used:

For versions 3.5 through 3.7.4, or for Beyond TV Link (all versions):

Open the following file (on the system drive) in a text editor:

\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\SnapStream\Beyond TV\Settings.xml

Find the following string at the top of the text file:

<Settings><Property>

Between these two values, paste the following:

<Property><Name>SoftwareRendering</Name><Value>True</Value></Property>

so that the value reads (in part):

<Settings><Property><Name>SoftwareRendering</Name><Value>True</Value></Property><Property>

Save the file under its original filename, and restart Beyond TV.

For version 4.0 and later:

Open the following page on the computer running Beyond TV:

http://localhost:8129/SetupInterface.aspx

Set "Enable Software Rendering" to "Enabled" and hit the 'Save Changes" button at the bottom of the page.

Finally, restart Beyond TV.
