Solution

DESCRIPTION:

A user with a Plextor Plextor PX-TV402U or PXM402U discovers that recording in the DivX format is not available.

ARTICLE:

With versions of Beyond TV prior to Beyond TV 4, in order to record in a given format, every tuner device in the system must be capable of recording in that format.

For example, if a user had a two-tuner system employing a Hauppauge WinTV PVR-250 and a Plextor PX-TV402U, DivX recording would be unavailable because the PVR-250 cannot record in the DivX format.

This limitation does not exist in Beyond TV 4. To configure Beyond TV 4 in such a setup to ensure that the Plextor device records in the DivX format, edit the device in the Web Admin. To do this:
  1. Connect to the Beyond TV 4.2 Web Admin interface on the machine running Beyond TV by opening http://localhost:8129 in a web browser.
  2. Once there, click the Settings link in the upper left to access the Basic Settings page.
  3. Click the "Audio and Video Inputs" link, and find the Plextor device in the provided list.
  4. Click the "Edit Settings" link corresponding to the Plextor device, and select "Show more options" from the drop-down list near the top of the page.
  5. Scroll down to the "Default Format" option and set this to DivX.
  6. Hit "Save Settings."
