Stuttering / `jerky` / `choppy` playback of HD content in BTV when using 3d-accelerated renderer
Stuttering / `jerky` / `choppy` playback of HD content in BTV when using 3d-accelerated renderer - SnapStream Knowledgebase
Solution
DESCRIPTION:
Beyond TV's 3-D Accelerated Display Mode is powered by the Video Mixing Renderer 9 (VMR9) that ships with Microsoft's DirectX. The efficiency with which the VMR9 can process video breaks down when videos reach HD resolutions. Thus, playing HD streams using the VMR9 can produce stuttering or jerky playback of HD content even on high-end systems.
ARTICLE:
We highly recommend using the Overlay Display Mode when viewing HD content in Beyond TV (via SETTINGS --> PLAYER SETTINGS). If switching to the overlay renderer does not solve the problem, it is likely that either the computer does not meet the minimum system requirements for HD playback, or that the problem exists in the recording itself. See the HD section of the
System Requirements
document for Beyond TV, or refer to
the HDTV Troubleshooting article
for more information.
Note: The following video cards are incompatible with Beyond TV’s Overlay Display Mode due to the way they capture video:
ATi All-In-Wonder Radeon 9600 and below
All nVidia Personal Cinema cards
