How analog & clear QAM Lineups work in Beyond TV 4.9

ARTICLE:

If you are using an analog and a QAM lineup, it will appear as one lineup in the Beyond TV Program Guide. What occurs is the QAM lineup is over-layed on top of the analog lineup. Depending on your tuner priority, it will display the channel with the higher priority.

For example: Here we have two lineups, an analog lineup which has channels 22, 23, 34, and 38 and the other a clear QAM lineup which has channels 23, 25 and 34. In the Beyond TV Program Guide lineup, it will display a combined lineup that includes 22, 23, 25, 34, and 38. As you can tell, the duplicate channels 23 and 34 are only listed once in the lineup. Now when you access channel 22 - TOON or 38 - FNC, it will use your analog tuner to view the channel as it is only on the analog lineup and if you access channel 25 - CNN, it will use your QAM tuner to view the channel. As for the duplicate channel 23 and 34, when you access them, depending on your tuner priority, it will access either the analog or the QAM version. Tuner priority is explained in detail further down this article.

38 - FNC   34 - ESPN2

Tuner Priority

When you try to access the channel 23 - AETV or 34 - ESPN2, since the analog tuner is at the top of your tuner priority list, it will access that tuner first and display the analog channel. If you have multiple recordings, it will use the analog tuner first, then again for the second recording and then finally it will use the QAM version for the third recording if you are recording 3 simultaneously recordings.

If your tuner priority is set like in this image, then it will use the QAM tuner first and second and then it will use the analog tuner third and etc.

If your tuner priority is set like this image, then it will use the QAM tuner first, then the analog tuner second and the QAM tuner again third and etc.

So if you have an analog lineup and a clear QAM lineup, please make sure your tuner priority is correct. In order to access the tuner priority page, please follow these instructions:
  • Open the Web Admin by right clicking on the Beyond TV icon in the system tray by the clock and choose Advanced Settings. Alternatively, you may click on this link while Beyond TV is running in the system tray: http://localhost:8129/

  • Once you are in the Web Admin, click on Audio and Video Inputs and then move your tuners up and down the list, top being the highest

  • Once you are done, close the Web Admin and your tuner priority is set.
